Interesting conversation with my friend in newspaper room

Hello everybody,
As any other blogger I thought I will stop blogging after 2 or 3 posts. But with all my will I am continuing. Hope I will continue it. Any way it is the boxing day post ( like the boxing day test is popular, this post contains a conversation that is common in our day to day life).
The situation is that after having a full lunch on a sunday in the mess, people started flocking to the hostel common room to watch the test match between India and South Africa that is supposed to start by 02:00 pm. Seems like the pitch is damped and people started reading news papers before the match starts.  That's when  two of my hostel mates started discussing in Malayalam. Let the names be X and Y. I will be Amarnath here in this conversation.

X: something...something ( in mallu) GSLV failed, 300 crores.......something something........
Y: something something........third failure, second after april's failure ......something something....russian engine.....third stage..........
 X: something something......April third stage indian,...........now third stage russian........signal not reached second stage....failure in first stage.......
Y: aha.....
X: Last week they detected a fault in fuel pipe of cryogenic engine (laughs aloud )..........
Y: Nods in agreement.....
Amarnath: Hi, Are you talking about the GSLV failure yesterday?(As if I did not hear anything)
X: Yes man....they failed again, this is very bad....ISRO is not realising from its mistakes.......and then they compare with NASA and make us think that our country is developed........(laughs)
Amar: hmm....but april failure is only the testing stage of our cryogenic engine right...that is not related to this failure,...right now a russian cryogenic engine is being used and that too failure is not in the cryogenic engine...it seems that failure is in the first stage......
X: Yes man......but see they failed half of the times they don't realise mistakes( again)........now they have  wasted hundreds of crores.....
Amar: Yes man but only when we fail we can learn from our mistakes right...and whenever you compare with NASA you should see that our budget is very small and we have been doing well with whatever we have.....
Y: (intervenes) I agree but the developed countries have got their technologies long back and we are unable to develop them even after 40 years  from when they developed?
Amar: yes but if u see the amount they spent on the research activities during those years we cannot even talk now.......our budget on r&d is very small even now .......then how can u expect all technologies as such........
X: I agree man then they should not compare with developed countries.....
Amar: May I know who is comparing....?
X: Who is not doing.......?
Amar: Can you tell something specific?
X: see when Obama came he said that we are already developed country......
Amar: Leave obama, he came to do his business......who in India?
X: Why not ....Manmohan singh tells this?
Amar: Where did he say that we are developed?
Y: (intervenes again) Leave that but see we are just assembling the components bought from russia and U.S etc....why can't we develop on our own......
Amar: No man... I agree with u that we are buying technology and that is one of the major part of our import bill...but we have to.......
X: why do we have to? Why can't we do it here?
Amar: then we have to invest on our univesities and R&D institutes like ISRO and DRDO......but our govt cannot do more bcs that our priorities are different.......Is that true or not?
X: Yes our priorities are different! but why compare with America and say that we are equal to them. We are no where equal to them....
Amar: I agree with u...but what is wrong in expecting high....after all it is just talking...nothing harm happens to any one right?
X: May be I don't agree with you......we should not talk...we should do........
Amar: Do you think we are not doing?
X: yes...we are not doing.....see from 40 years we have been telling that we are developing country..but we are not becoming developed country because people are not doing enough work.........like the case of ISRO........
Amar: Yes da...I agree that we have been a developing country from years..but what I can tell you is we are doing better that our past.......from the last 20 years we have lifted masses out of poverty and there are still to come out of poverty........but it cannot happen in a second or a minute...we are doing better than many countries now......
X: dont say many countries....see countries like china which are big than our's and singapore which are smaller than our's are doing well...then why not we?
Amar: Yes man......But see China started reforms more than 40 years back and singapore is just a business dependent country..........it has also experienced recession with much effect than ours......then what is wrong with us...we are also growing and we will do well in the future....
X: Don't say that last 20 years we are developing again and again........we have to develop otherwise what is the use....dont see that as something big.......I dont agree with u....
Amar: Y not....inspite of may problems we are developing.......if u cannot agree there is some disagreement between us on this issue......let us go back to isro....hehheh
X: yes man..see now these guys will launch a PSLV in some months and say that they bounced back.....
Amar: what is wrong with it.......They are doing their schedule...nothing wrong...they have a well defined schedule and they follow it.....nothing wrong in launching a PSLV....
X: haha...PSLV is nothing big it is very easy vehicle and they do it to show that they are great....
Amar: I mean......PSLV is also developed here what is wrong in doing it well....you mean that we should not launch PSLV and on work on GSLV.....do u think PSLV is useless and the satellites we are launching with PSLV are of no value...?
X: No I dont say that but why should they launch PSLV immediately and say that they are good ?
Amar: I dont agree that they are launching PSLV to prove they are capable.....even if they are doing it for your said reason.......afterall they get half their money from launching foreign satellites ....in order to put confidence on our missions I say we should launch.......after all it is business right?
X: Yes now you came to the right point? they are not there to do business they should do our needs that some other countries....what if they fail again with GSLV ?
Amar: nothing ....we will pay NASA or some french company to launch our satellites......but we tried...right?
X: Yes now instead of launching a PSLV if they concentrate on GSLV more they will succeed it right?
Amar: I dont understand what do u mean by concentrating more on GSLV? Do you think they just stop working on that? Dont you think there will be people doing all kinds of things simultaneously? are you thinking they are no one in ISRO working on GSLV? we are also in the process of developing GSLV Mark 3....there might be some other team doing that also.....it is their duty....and what is wrong in it?

X: Finally it is people like us who sit here and start blaming people , we should go and vote first.....(Who blamed till now?) These people who are earning and working in MNC's dont vote but sit in  their food courts like us and start discussing things.......
Amar: Ya...but what we discussed is not blaming.....we just had a healthy debate it is a part of democracy......and then only one can clear his opinions....I dont think I blamed it is good to have a discussion....good.....

No other great people to A.P's congress that the family of Sonia Gandhi. Every project that comes out of the government bears the name of either Rajiv, or Indira. Microfinance in A.P

Hello everybody,
   Mohammed yunus from Bangladesh shared Nobel peace prize in 2006 for creating rural banking revolution in his country. In country like India where banking penetration in rural areas is very less and reports say around 40% of poor Indian's dont have access to low interest credit facilitites, most of them depend on money lenders for higher interest rates etc., one would expect the revolution created by the Nobel laurete in Bangladesh to work in India too. One example of this small banking is the Self Help Groups (SHG) in most parts of the country. I remember Chandra Babu Naidu publicising these groups a lot and showing it as state's achievement. Whenever the President's or Prime ministers of our and foreign countries visit we show case our self help groups as achievement. For some reason This has again become a corporate affair and many profit seeking companies have entered this department. MFI as they call these (Micro Finance Institutions) , have now become more popular than the SHG's. It has again ruined the system by increasing competition and MFI started lending loans without considering the returning status of the Individuals. And when the people did not return the money, they started pulling them to the streets. Indians even if we don't have money we care for the social status ( may be a bit generalising but it is true with many of us). People started suicides as a remedy to these MFI's. As usual the oppositions parties have sprung up to action and organized events to highlight the plight of common people who took the loans from the MFI;s. Meanwhile the News channels started putting discussions with great talented people in the panels and showcasing their creativity. Now the governement got the seriousness of the issue and given an ordinance to regulate the MFIs which was next passed by the governor. But the role model suicides have influenced a lot that whoever dies now will be deemed as an MFI's victim. (thanks that no political leader died in the last month, or else you know what would be the reason for the suicides.). It is now time for the government to shift the responsibilites to the RBI and do what it can. But no one know's how RBI will do this since it is whole lot of political leaders doing these MFI's.
Again an example of what we can only see but can't do anything....it happens like this in this country character only.

Times square failed attempt VS Mumbai Attacks

Hi friends,

     I don't know how to see this but just expressing what I understood. It happened more than one and half year back but still the convict is alive waiting for the Bombay High court to decide if he is really a terrorist or not. Now they say it will take another 2 months for the HC to decide the case , Then Mr. Kasab will get a chance to appeal in the Supreme court of India and then The president also will take their own time to decide the verdict. Yesterday the Bombay HC started its hearing on the case. Kasab attended the Proceedings through VC ( VIDEO CONFERENCE) . News papers including the hindu reported that he was laughing at the camera. How happy he is.? I can't say if the judiciary process atleast in this case is right or wrong, but I can only compare with the parallel failed times square bomb attempt by another terrorist in america. The American justice delivery is so fast? I dont know..... But The terrorist there was convicted for life term and it is decided. Oh....god How many more times I have to listen this Kasab's laughing at our system.....? Let the victims of the attacks stay in peace where ever they are.........

హైదరాబాద్, సెప్టెంబర్ 23 : 'పిండి కొద్దీ రొట్టె'... పెద్దలు చెప్పిన ఈ సామెత రాష్ట్రంలోని ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీలకూ వర్తిస్తుంది. మంచి ఫ్యాకల్టీ, మౌలిక సదుపాయాలు ఉన్న కాలేజీలనే విద్యార్థుల తల్లిదండ్రులు ఎంపిక చేసుకుంటున్నారు. తమ పిల్లలను వాటిలో చేరుస్తున్నారు. అవి లేకపోతే ఇంటి పక్కనే కాలేజీ ఉన్నా వాటి మొహం కూడా చూడడం లేదు. ఐటీ బూమ్ ఉన్నప్పుడు అందరూ కంప్యూటర్‌వైపే ఎగ బడ్డారు. ఇబ్బడి ముబ్బడిగా ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీలు వెలిశాయి.

అప్పట్లో సీటు దొరికితే చాలన్నట్లు.. ప్రమాణాలు లేకపోయినా.. ఫ్యాకల్టీ లేకపోయినా తమ పిల్లలను వాటిలో చేర్చేశారు. కుర్చీలు, బల్లలు లేని కాలేజీలు కూడా కోర్సులను నిర్వహించేశాయి. కానీ.. ఐటీ బూమ్ బద్దలు కావడంతో ఇప్పుడు పరిస్థితి పూర్తిగా మారిపోయింది. ఐటీ రంగంలో ఉద్యోగావకాశాలు సన్నగిల్లడంతో ఆషామాషీగా అనుమతి పొందిన కాలేజీల్లో ఎంసీఏ చదివినా ప్రయోజనం లేదని విద్యార్థులు, వారి తల్లిదండ్రులు అభిప్రాయపడుతున్నారు.

అందుకే.. ప్రస్తుతం రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా 300 ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీలు మూత దిశగా పయనిస్తున్నాయి. కొత్త, మారుమూల ప్రాంతాల్లోని కాలేజీల మనుగడ ప్రశ్నార్థకంగా మారింది. రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా మొత్తం 675 ఎంసీఏ (మాస్టర్ ఆఫ్ కంప్యూటర్ అప్లికేషన్స్) కాలేజీలు ఉన్నాయి. మొదటి దశ కౌన్సెలింగ్ పూర్తయిన తర్వాత పాత, గుడ్‌విల్ ఉన్న కాలేజీల్లో మాత్రమే పూర్తిస్థాయిలో అడ్మిషన్లు పూర్తయ్యాయి. గ్రామీణ, మారుమూల ప్రాంతాల్లోని కాలేజీలకు మొదటి దశ అడ్మిషన్ల కౌన్సెలింగ్‌లో విద్యార్థుల నుంచి కనీస స్పందన రాలేదు.

ఈనెల ఒకటో తేదీన జరిగిన సీట్ల కేటాయింపు సందర్భంగా 74 ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీల మొహాన్ని ఒక్క విద్యార్థి కూడా చూడలేదు. వాటిలో జీరో అడ్మిషన్లు నమోదయ్యాయి. ఇక, 277 కాలేజీల్లో పదికంటే తక్కువ అడ్మిషన్లు.. 87 కాలేజీల్లో 20 కంటే తక్కువ అడ్మిషన్లు కావడం విశేషం. ఈ నేపథ్యంలోనే 2010-11 విద్యా సంవత్సరంలో రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా 300కుపైగా ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీలు మూత పడేందుకు సిద్ధంగా ఉన్నాయి. వాస్తవానికి, సీటు అలాట్ అయిన అభ్యర్థులు గురువారంలోగా ఆయా కాలేజీల్లో రిపోర్టు చేయాల్సి ఉంది.

కానీ ఆయా కాలేజీల్లో అడ్మిషన్ల పరిస్థితిని గమనించిన అభ్యర్థుల్లో సింహ భాగం చేరడానికి ముందుకు రాలేదు. దీంతో కాలేజీ యాజమాన్యాల పరిస్థితి అగమ్యగోచరంగా మారింది. ఇంత తక్కువమంది విద్యార్థులతో కాలేజీలను ఎలా నిర్వహించాలో అర్ధంకాక ఆందోళన చెందుతున్నారు. ఇక, ఎంసీఏ అడ్మిషన్ల రెండో దశ కౌన్సెలింగ్ ఈనెల 24వ తేదీ నుంచి 27 వరకు జరుగుతుందని రాష్ట్ర ఉన్నత విద్యామండలి ఇప్పటికే ప్రకటించింది.

ఈ దశలోనూ తమ కాలేజీల్లో అడ్మిషన్లు కావని అంచనా వేసిన యాజమాన్యాలు తమ కాలేజీని రెండో దశ కౌన్సెలింగ్ జాబితా నుంచి తొలగించాలని మండలిని కోరుతున్నాయి. రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా ఇప్పటికే 15 కాలేజీల నుంచి ఈ మేరకు మండలికి అభ్యర్థనలు అందాయి. ప్రస్తుత విద్యా సంవత్సరంలో తాము ఎంసీఏ కోర్సును నిర్వహించలేమని వారు చేతులెత్తేస్తున్నారు. హైదరాబాద్, రంగారెడ్డి, తిరుపతి, కడప, వరంగల్, నెల్లూరు తదితర జిల్లాల నుంచి ఈ వినతులు వచ్చాయి.

కనీసం 25 అడ్మిషన్లు కూడా లేకుండా కాలేజీని ఎలా నిర్వహించగలమని వారు ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. మరిన్ని కాలేజీల యాజమాన్యాలు కూడా ఇదే మాదిరిగా లేఖలు రాస్తున్నట్లు సమాచారం. తాజా సమాచారం ప్రకారం రాష్ట్రవ్యాప్తంగా 300 ఎంసీఏ కాలేజీల యాజమాన్యాలు ఈ ఏడాది కోర్సులు నిర్వహించరాదని ఇప్పటికే నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. వీటిలో కొత్త, గ్రామీణ ప్రాంత కాలేజీలే అధికంగా ఉన్నాయి.

అయితే.. ఎక్కువ అడ్మిషన్లు ఉన్నప్పుడు కాలేజీని నిర్వహించి.. తక్కువ ఉన్నప్పుడు చేతులెత్తేయడం సరైన పద్ధతి కాదని రాష్ట్ర ఉన్నత విద్యామండలి అభిప్రాయపడుతోంది. కౌన్సెలింగ్ జాబితాలో ఓసారి కాలేజీని చేర్చిన తర్వాత.. ఒక్క అడ్మిషన్ జరిగినా కాలేజీని నిర్వహించాల్సిందేనని మండలి అధికారులు తేల్చి చెబుతున్నారు.

ఒకవేళ నిర్వహించలేని పరిస్థితుల్లో.. తమ కాలేజీల్లో అడ్మిషన్లు తీసుకున్న విద్యార్థులను ఇతర కాలేజీల్లో సర్దుబాటు చేయాల్సిన బాధ్యత కూడా ఆయా కాలేజీల యాజమాన్యాలపైనే ఉంటుందని స్పష్టం చేస్తున్నారు. కాగా, ప్రమాణాలు లేకుండా కాలేజీలను నిర్వహించేవారికి ఇలాంటి పరిస్థితి ఎదురు కావడం మంచి పరిణామమేనని పలువురు విద్యావేత్తలు అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు.

  

Why are we getting driven by the crazy media reports?

hello everybody,
    I was following the commonwealth games 2010 in Delhi and  , its preparations for quite a long time. It all started with  6 months to go for the games and the CEO of Commonwealth games federation Mr. Michael fennel who visited the games venues and termed them as not ready for the games in October. It was then the Indian media started bullying around the games and its woes now and then when it does not have any sensational news at all. It was 1 one month to go and then because of the serious games corruption allegations and delays in handing over the stadiums, the Prime minister of India has to step in and ask a GoM to look after the issues. Before that , there were severe allegations by the 'Indian media' on Suresh Kalmadi and co. The Chief minister of Delhi in one meeting has openly agreed that God has to save the games. But she was always confident on Delhi's preparedness. Kalmadi and co. as usual were busy in organising th baton relays, opening of the stadiums etc etc. In the first 15 days of the one month countdown, the media decided to go more on the Kashmir issue and Ayodhya rather than the CWG 2010.

But all of a sudden why this upsurge in criticism by the media?  There are reasons for this. Delhi was not at all ready as per the schedule. It won the bid for games 7 years back. But Miss. Diskshit and co. were busy in state's elections preparedness than on the CWG for obvious reasons and she did the right thing. But once the elections were over and she regained her crown , Then started the real testing time for Delhi.  Delhi's metro was the fastest built metro hopefully in the world.(not sure but on some website data). It is the role model for India's Public Private Partnership model ( PPP) (this reminds me of my research work which also revolves around public private data). It is the best in the country no doubt of it. But there were some incidents in the construction too. There were a few accidents costing the life of laborers working over there. This made Sridharan to resign but he withdrew after requests from various sections of political spectrum.
Some how almost all the routes got opened before the games. This is the real achievement of Delhi considering the delays in infrastructure projects in the country. But it went unnoticed by the media. Any way it is always a pride to Delhi irrespective of the games.

As per the schedule of the projects it is delhi's duty to finish the projects except the games village by 2009( This is from the CGF site). But they have completely compromised the dates here. If the same media shouted at that point may be there would not be any news for them now. But I doubt the people in the Common wealth games federation who did not talk any thing untill last month. This leads to point fingers towards them a lot.

Yes there is delay and that is huge. But what can be done now. ? Showing that it is India's shame? or something else? May be the way the news are written make us feel so. But come cool and think once again. The delays in preparations is the reason. Nothing else.

If u say corruption is the main reason. may be, but show me one section in india where there is no corruption. Where ever huge money is involved there is corruption.
Corruption as u say is there in any field in the world.

U.S senator calls Infosys a Chop Shop.

Hello everybody,
           Last week during the discussion on the new border security bill ,  U.S senator, Mr. Schumer  had the following comments.

Here’s exactly what Mr. Schumer had to say:
“The emergency border funds will be paid for by assessing fees on foreign companies known as chop shops that outsource good, high-paying American technology jobs to lower wage, temporary immigrant workers from other countries. These are companies such as Infosys. But it will not affect the high-tech companies such as Intel or Microsoft that play by the rules and recruit workers in America.”

When an Indian first reads this , expect his comments?

I had to check this with some of my friends and of course even my comments will be here.

My comment went like this , " Who said Infy is Chop Shop? It is not Infy, It is Intel, It is Microsoft etc etc which are chop shop's. Infy is great. (with due respects to the Indian parliament and its members) .These senators are nowadays talking like our M.P's. "

Other friends said U.S is waste, some even supported his comments.

After thinking for a while , I could only conclude that he is crying. The U.S today is unable to provide jobs to its citizens and now it is just crying at India. Narayana Murthy's Infosys  today provides employment to 1 Lakh Plus youth of this country. Similarly other IT co's of India do.
A couple of days back the U.S had hiked the Visa fee , thinking that this could create more jobs for the U.S citizens. I dont think they will succeed in their attempt . Instead , they may end up in Loss. 
I can now be happy and celebrate Independence day with pride. But there are many arena's which we have to improve but now we are developing faster than any other time in the history of our country.


Hope god listen's to the crying of U.S also.

సాగు భూములను థర్మల్ విద్యుత్ కేంద్రానికి కేటాయించవచ్చునా ?

 ప్రియమైన మిత్రులారా , 

                                       నిన్నటి సోంపేట ఘటన ఆంధ్ర రాష్ట్ర చరిత్ర లో మరో చీకటి రోజు. విద్యుత్ చార్జీలు పెంచిన కారణంగా తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరాల క్రితం చంద్రబాబు  నాయుడు ప్రభుత్వం హైదరాబాదులో చేసిన మారణకాండ లో కూడా ముగ్గురు అమాయకులు ప్రాణాలు వదిలారు. ఆ రోజున జరిగిన ఘోరానికి అప్పటి ప్రభుత్వం తరువాతి ఎన్నికలలో ఘోర పరాజయాన్ని మూట కట్టుకోవాల్సి వచ్చింది. మళ్లీ తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరాల తరువాత అదే రకమైన సంఘటన. ప్రభుత్వం నియమించిన పోలీసులు జనం పై బుల్లెట్ల వర్షం కురిపించారు. ఆగ్రహం కట్టలు తెంచుకున్న జనంపైకి పోలీసుల  విచ్చల విడిగా కాల్పులు జరిపారు. ప్రాధమిక అంచనాల ప్రకారం ముగ్గురు రైతు కూలీలు ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు. ఇదంతా దేని కోసం? వివరాల లోకి వెళ్తే ప్రభుత్వం  శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లా సోంపేట లో  బొగ్గు తో నడిచే సుమారు 2000 మెగా వాట్ల విద్యుత్ తయారీ  కర్మాగారాన్ని నాగార్జున construction  కంపెనీ నెలకొల్పడానికి ముందుకు వచ్చింది. దాని కోసం వారికి సుమారు ౨౦౦౦ ఎకరాల భూమి కావాల్సి వచ్చింది. అక్కడి కలెక్టర్, మరియు ఇతర ప్రభుత్వ సిబ్బంది బాగా వెతికి సోంపేట కి దగ్గరలో  ౨౦౦౦ ఎకరాల సాగు  భూమిని సిఫార్సు చేసింది. ఐతే ఇందులో కేవలం 1300 ఎకరాలు ప్రభుత్వ భూమి కాగ మిగిలిన 800 వందల ఎకరాలు ప్రైవేటు భూమి. విషయం ఏమిటి అంటే ఈ భూమిలో ఇప్పటివరకు సంవత్సరానికి రొండు పంటలు  పండుతున్నాయి. దీన్ని నాయనో భయానో ప్రజల నుండి లక్కుండి మన ప్రభుత్వం. నిన్నటి రోజున నాగార్జున కొన్స్త్రుక్తిఒన్ కంపెనీ ఈ భూమి కొలతల కోసం సోంపేటకు వెళ్ళడం జరిగింది. ఐతే ఈ కర్మాగారాన్ని మొదటి నుండి వ్యతిరేకిస్తున్న గ్రామస్తులు అడ్డు పడతారు అని ముందే గ్రహించిన సదరు కంపెనీ యాజమాన్యం ప్రభుత్వ సాయం తో ౩౦౦౦ పైచిలుకు  పోలీసులను రక్షణ గా తీసుకు వెళ్ళింది. ప్రజలను ఇళ్ళ నుండి   బయటకు రాకుండా పోలీసులు గ్రామాలను పహారా కాయసాగారు.   ఐతే , ప్రజాశక్తి ముందు పోలీసులు నిలవలేక పోయారు. వేలల్లో తరలి వచ్చిన జనం కంపెనీ కార్యాలనికి చేరుకోసాగారు. అక్కడ వున్న కంపెనీ కిరాయి గూండాలు పోలీసులతో కలిసి వారిని అడ్డుకోడానికి ప్రయత్నించారు. కానీ వారి ఆగ్రహం ముందు నిలువలేక పోయారు. చేతికి దొరికిన వారిని దొరికి నట్టు చితక బాదుకుంటున్నారు. ఈ క్రమం లో పోలీసులు, మీడియా ప్రతినిధులు, కంపెనీ గూండాలు, ప్రజలు, అందరూ గాయపడ్డారు. చివరకి తమ గన్నులకు పని చెప్పిన పోలీసులు ముగ్గురు ఆందోళన కారులను బలిగొన్నారు. అ తరువాత జరిగిన యుద్ధాన్ని నా కంటే టీవీ 9 చుస్తే  మీకే తెలిసి వుంటుంది.  

 ఇందులో మనం గమనించాల్సిన విషయాలు కొన్ని వున్నాయి. 

మొదటగా సాగు భూములను ఇలా పర్యావరణానికి హాని చేసే బొగ్గు కర్మాగారానికి కేటాయించ వచ్చా  ? చేసినా దానికి స్థానికుల అనుమతి తీసుకోవాలా వద్దా ? ఇంతకీ కొసమెరుపు ఏమిటి అంటే సదరు కంపెనీ A. P Pollution control Board నుండి కనీసం అనుమతి కూడా తీసుకోలేదు అంట( tv9). మరి ఎందుకు ప్రభుత్వానికి ఆ కంపెనీ అంటే అంట ప్రేమ? ఏమో మరి ? సదరు కంపెనీ ఏ ప్రభుత్వ అధినేతదో మరి? ఇంకొక విషయం ఏమిటి అంటే ఇప్పటికే శ్రీకాకుళం జిల్లా లో పది వేల మెగావాట్ల బొగ్గు విద్యుత్ కర్మాగారాలు వివిధ స్థాయిలలో వున్నాయి సుమా. అంటే శ్రీకాకుళం లో ఇప్పటికే చాలా ప్రాజెక్టులు నడుస్తున్నాయి అన్న మాట. మహానది బొగ్గు వనరులులకు దగ్గరగా వుండడం, మంచి నీటి వనరులు పుష్కలంగా వుండడం, వీటి ప్రధాన కారణం. ఆధునిక భారత దేశం లో విద్యుత్ వినియోగం విపరీతం గా పెరిగి పోయింది. దాంతో ప్రభుత్వం ఇబ్బడి ముబ్బడి గా విద్యుత్ తయారీ కేంద్రాలకు అనుమతి ఇస్తోంది. మరీ చెత్త విషయం ఏమిటి అంటే భూములు కోల్పోయిన రైతులు మహా ఐతే ఆ తయారీ కేంద్రాలలో కూలీలుగా ఉద్యోగం చేసుకోవాలి. పచ్చని పంట పండించే వాళ్ళకి చివరికి మన ప్రభుత్వం ఇచ్చే ప్రతి ఫలం ఇది. కానీ పాలకులు చెప్పే మాటలు తెలుసు కదా, కంపెనీ వల్ల ప్రజలకి ఉద్యోగాలు వస్తాయి అంటే ఏదో మేనేజర్ లు ఐపోతారు  అనుకోకండి. పంట పొలాలను ధారాదత్తం చేసి వాళ్ళు కూలీలు కావాల్సిందే. మరి అంతా బాగుంది. ఈ విద్యుత్ ని ఎవరికీ అమ్ముతుంది సదరు కంపెనీ ? ఈ ప్రశ్న కి సమాధానం  మన రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం దగ్గర మాత్రం దొరకదు. ఎందుకంటే మనకి విద్యుత్ విధానం ఇంకా ఖరారు కాలేదు. పాత లెక్కల ప్రకారం పాతిక శాతం మాత్రమే మన ప్రభుత్వం కొనుగోలు చేయ్యగలదు.మిగాతా 75 శాతం ఆ కంపెనీ బహిరంగ మార్కెట్లో అమ్ముకోవచ్చు. అంటే మనకి దొరికేది ముష్టి ఐదువందల మెగావాట్లు అన్న మాట.  ఇదే గడ్డ పై అల్లురి సీతారామరాజు చేసిన పోరాటం గుర్తుకు వస్తోంది. అప్పుడు తెల్లదొరలు మనం పండించిన పంటని విదేశాలకు దోచుకు వెళ్తుంటే అడ్డుకున్న ఆతను చివరికి వారి తూటాలకు బలైపోయాడు. ఇది యాద్రూచికమ్  కావచ్చు. కానీ , ఇప్పటి ప్రభుత్వాల నిరంకుశత్వం చూస్తుంటే మళ్లీ అదే జరిగేల వుంది. వందల మంది ఎదురొచ్చిన కూడా వారిని తూటాలకు బలిచేసి తాము తలపెట్టిన పనిని చెయ్యగల సత్తా వారికి వుంది. ఆహార భద్రతా బిల్లు గురించి మనం చర్చించుకుంటున్న రోజులు ఇవి. పండించే వాడికి భద్రతా కల్పిస్తే ఆహరం భద్రత అదే వస్తుంది. కానీ మనం చేసేది ఏమిటో తెలుసా, పంటలు కూడా దిగుమతి చేసువాల్సి వస్తోంది. చివరకి అతి నీఛ స్థితి లో వున్న దాయాది దేశం పాకిస్తాన్ నుండి చెక్కర దిగుమతి చేసుకుంటున్నాం మనం. అంటే వున్న దాన్ని చేతులారా నాశనం చేసి, ఎక్కువ ధరలో పక్క దేశాల నుండి దిగుమతి చేసుకుంటున్నాం. ఇది మన ఘనకార్యం. నేను విమర్సిస్తున్నట్టు అనిపించినా ఇది నగ్న సత్యం. మరి దీని కోసం మనం ఏమి చెయ్యగలం? జలయజ్ఞం పేరు తో ఇప్పటికి మన రాష్ట్రం లో లక్షల కోట్లు ఖర్చు అయ్యాయి. ప్రభుత్వ లెక్కల ప్రకారం ఎంత భూమి సాగులోకి వచ్చిందో, గత ఐదు సంవత్సరాలలో ఎంత సాగు భూమి ఇతర  అవసరాలకు మల్లిన్చబడిందో వారికే తెలియాలి. ఇదంతా చూస్తుంటే ఎటు వెళ్తున్నాం మనం అని అనిపిస్తోంది. " పెరుగుట విరుగుట కొరకే" అన్న సామెత గుర్తుకు వస్తోంది. చివరకి భూమిని సర్వ నాశనం చేసి మనిషి అంతరిస్తాడు అని నా వూహ.    చూడాలి ఏమి జరుగుతుందో. నా మనసు లోని భావాలను వ్యక్త పరచడానికి నా ఈ చిన్ని ప్రయత్నం లో  లోపాలు వుంటే క్షమించగలరు. మీ సూచనలు సలహాలు అందించగలరు.

Engineering Education in Andhra Pradesh : A reality Check

   It is been months that I checked my own blog. Nevertheless, I will try to keep posting from now on. I was wondering on what topic should I start ( restart) my blogging. Since I am an engineer , and that too from a state which produces more than 2 Lakh engineer's a year ( From 2010), I would better post on the engineering education scenario in Andhra Pradesh. 

    First of all let me give you some figures ( not exact of course ).

Stunning is it?

         Don't worry if u can see a four digit number in the next two years. Trust me. so, just think, if these colleges even have a single Ph. D faculty? I bet you most of the colleges have B.Tech freshers as faculties. ( wonder if some colleges have at least them).

So, Who is giving permission to these colleges?  Who are studying engineering ? Why are they studying?  Who is establishing these colleges? reason for the steep increase? and last but not the least quality of students and faculty in these colleges?

Let me start with the government's policies that led to the growth in number of colleges after 2000.
Firstly, (If I am not boosting of the people of Andhra Pradesh, ) The people of This region are crazy about getting a good job and earning huge money. Most of them dream only about working in a company rather than thinking about setting up a company. ( That might be the reason why no telugu guys in IIM's ).  Because of this way of thinking, fuelled by the economic growth and software boom in the late 90's , people started sending their children to the engineering stream. The problem was very less number of engineering colleges in the state during the 90's to cater the demand from the students. Comparitively, there was less craze among the students of other states. This made people from Andhra, to send their children to colleges in other states.

At this point, The former CEO ( I mean it) of Andhra Pradesh , Mr. Chandra Babu naidu noticed the need to start colleges. He started encouraging the educationalists of that time to put up colleges. Thus started the growth in the number of colleges. By the end of his 9 year term as the CEO of A.P, there were around 270 engineering colleges, with around 1 Lakh students in them. Getting approval for engineering college is a tiresome procedure in those days. First the state government has to verify the college , then the AICTE and then finally the college gets added into the list. So, It is very difficult to get the approval's unless an you know and M.L.A or M.P.  Then started the era of giving honorary shares in the colleges to our elected representatives. Each M.L.A would be offered a 10- 30 % shares in the college profits and it is his duty to get the approval's from both state government and the AICTE.  Now this is a very easy task . Slowly each M.L.A acquired stakes in a bunch of colleges.

I remember in 2004, when Mr. Naidu was campaigning , he highlighted the number of engineering colleges in the state as his govt's achievement.
